Why does everything have to go so wrong? I honestly don’t think that I can deal with any more stuff right now, I am just so tired. Should have gone with my impulse yesterday and bought a tent, drove to the middle of fucking nowhere, and lived there for a while. That way i could no longer actively fuck up my future.

We thought we’d end our day the same way it started - with a tribute to the 10th birthday of Fall Out Boy’s debut album, Take This To Your Grave. This album was a huge turning point in the history of Fueled By Ramen and the introduction of Fall Out Boy to music fans around the world.

I remember driving around Gainesville, Florida with Punchline and Fall Out Boy listening to the master of the album for the first time. It felt like the start of something big but I don’t think any of us knew just how big the band and their music would become.

Now 10 years since the album’s release, our friends at Property Of Zack have posted a great article on the impact and legacy of Take This To Your Grave - read it HERE.

“It’s timeless. And much like the music, the themes of the album - heartbreak, nostalgia, and youthful optimism - never go out of style.”

Interesting… So instead of having the courage yourself that is needed to stand up against those with greater power, you would instead nominate others to sacrifice themselves instead? Well that is wonderful! In fact, that is almost the exact same type of thing that a cowardly leader in a corporation, government, military, law enforcement, or church would do! Wow! So let me ask you this. Do you hope to be one of many pawns standing against those who would use you like a pawn, or do you hope to selfishly use others as pawns for your own ideals? Because your statement suggests the latter and is in complete contradiction of what I believed your post had attempted to convey. At the very least your comment reveals your hypocrisy and is disrespectful. I don’t appreciate it.

Okay, the post is just an image, it is open to interpretation, so maybe I misunderstood whatever it is that you wanted to get across with the post. I believed that your post showed the power that a higher number of pawns would have in a game against only a few greater pieces. That there is power in numbers and that these institutions should fear the masses for they have the real ultimate control. I came to this interpretation because there is almost no way that the pawns could lose that game.

Maybe you just intended to call everyone a metaphorical ‘pawn’ for corporations and whatnot? Is that what you meant? Because that would fit in with your comment better I believe. I just think that all the pawns would have been on the other side of the board if that was the intended message, but whatever. If that is the case, okay, you are a cowardly elitist, get off your high horse, I have no more words for someone that narrow-minded.

However, if you are not some common elitist trying to point out how everyone is being used by the institutions that exist, let me try to explain my comment a bit further in case I was not clear. Unless things are bad enough to get enough pawns to conquer their fears and get on the board prepared to lose everything, nothing will change. All because of fear. The fear of becoming one of those front row pawns destined to go down. That fear is where their power lies, and the loss of that fear is the threshold that needs to be obtained for a populous to unite in an attempt to obtain real change.
